When I turned up to my first job right after university, I felt disoriented. I never knew what God’s presence looked like or felt like in the workplace. I’d heard about Jesus since I was young at Sunday school, but felt I didn’t know where I could find God in the workplace.
I had so many questions. If he showed up, what would he look like? Would he speak, and provide specific wisdom to help me with my job, or was he going to be the silent judge, watching my every move?
Was I even supposed to love work? If I was really serious about my faith, was I willing to give up my day job, study at bible college and be eager to live as a missionary in a third world country?
The reality is, I enjoyed interacting with my workmates (and I’m still in contact with some of them over 2 decades later) and I found work mentally stimulating and fun. Deep down inside, I felt guilty being this content at work and being paid for it too!
Hi, I’m Mish.
I felt lost…
Like being in the forest, trying frantically to get out before dusk but realising you’re aimlessly wandering around the same tree.
I felt prompted to do some study and after researching and reflecting, I found out God has a lot to say about work. In the very beginning of creation, we see God working and resting. God made us to work in partnership with him to transform his world.
When I discovered that God’s presence is everywhere, all the time, I began to get a glimpse into God’s immense love for me. He is always with me, and will never leave nor forsake me.
The question perhaps is not whether God is with me at any moment during the day, but how aware I am of his constant loving presence.
Kobe is God’s gift to me as a constant reminder of his love
When Kobe became part of my family during covid, God showed me a new perspective of his love.
Kobe is my constant reminder that God intimately desires to be with me ALL the time. Kobe doesn’t care what I do, he just wants to be near me. God’s love never fails.
Over the last 8 years, I’ve been teaching others about this revelation to help them on their own personal journey of discovering greater intimacy with our heavenly Father, and being formed is the beginning of expanding this to a wider audience.
